Patent Prosecution

This course is an introduction to patent prosecution in the United States, the interaction between an applicant and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Topics will include: types of applications, access to applications, ownership and assignment, restriction practice, appeal, reissue patents, reexamination of patents, the Patent Cooperation Treaty, and interference proceedings.

Grading and Method of Evaluation:
Letter grade with pass/fail option. Students graded on written assignments and classroom participation.
