Rep. Health Care Clients
The American health care delivery system is composed of a complex network of organizations that have numerous relationships with a vast array of stakeholders in the health care industry. Such organizations and practitioners are heavily regulated by many governmental and non-governmental agencies and accrediting bodies. Today's health law practitioner must be familiar with a broad compendium of statutes, regulations, and substantive areas of law in order to provide effective counsel to the health care client. The objective of this course is to give the student a practical perspective on some of the legal topics and issues facing lawyers who represent health care clients. This course will explore a wide range of health law topics such as telemedicine, population health, the medical malpractice, Ai in health care, health care economics, the ethics of pandemics, patient safety, and human subject research. This course will also apply substantive health law concepts to some of the more routine matters that counsel for health care clients regularly address. Additionally, this course will briefly highlight some professional ethics and bioethical issues.
