Ó£ÌÒÊÓÆµ Named a Top School for Music Law by Billboard

For the fifth consecutive year, Ó£ÌÒÊÓÆµ has been named to Billboard magazine’s , published in the Aug. 24, 2019, print edition.

Five alumni were named to Billboard’s list of Top Music Lawyers 2019:

  • ’67, founder of leading entertainment law firm Grubman Indursky Shire & Meiselas. A past Alumnus of the Year, his firm represents Spotify in the critically important area of streaming, is helping to restructure Barbra Streisand’s recording arrangements, and has been involved with Bruce Springsteen’s Broadway show and Elton John’s movie about his life.
  • ’71, Shareholder, Greenberg Traurig. Schindler negotiated Billy Joel’s July performance at Baltimore’s Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the first concert ever staged at the ballpark.
  • ’90, EVP, Business and Legal Affairs, Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Brodsky led the team that recently closed the $2.2 billion deal through which Sony Corp. acquired the 60 percent share in EMI Music Publishing that it didn’t already own.
  • ’91, Partner, Reed Smith. Shapiro helped negotiate Rihanna’s groundbreaking partnership with luxury goods company LVMH.
  • ’05, Partner, Manatt Phelps & Phillips. At 40, Bromley is the youngest head of the entertainment transactions and finance group in the firm’s recent history.

The Law School often has been noted for its entertainment law course and workshop, as well as the certificate in intellectual property, media, and information law. The , one of the largest and most prolific student-run organizations at the Law School, is also an invaluable source of programs and resources for students interested in careers in entertainment.
